In recent years, China's economic strength has been growing with each passing day. While developing itself, China has never forgotten to help other countries develop. Turkmenistan is a good example. Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov said on June 11 that the country has "completely" repaid billions of dollars in loans owed to China.
Turkmenistan is a small country in Central Asia. It is one of the driest regions in the world its economic development is relatively backward. However, it has one unique advantage: the world's fifth-largest natural gas content. At the same time, the oil gas industry has become the backbone of its economic development. But it has long been wasteful because of a lack of infrastructure. In 2007, China National Petroleum Corporation signed a natural gas product sharing contract a purchase sale agreement between China Turkey.
Under the agreement, China will help the government of Turkmenistan build natural gas pipelines eastern Turkmenistan, through Kazakhstan other countries, to China over the next 30 years. After the completion of the project, the Turkmenistan region will be able to export tens of billions of cubic meters of natural gas to China every year.
At the International Conference on Oil Gas in 2020, the Turkmenistan government pointed out that China is currently the largest exporter of natural gas to the country, with 40 billion cubic meters of natural gas exported to China every year. The French news agency Agence France-Presse said the figure was six to seven times the amount it exported to Russia.
Thus, the oil pipeline that China has helped to build has injected great vitality into its economic development. China has provided a huge loan of $8.1 billion to help the Turkmenistan government develop natural gas projects, foreign media reported, citing the China Development Bank. However, it has now repaid the Chinese loan "in full".
In addition, it is worth mentioning that some Western media have made rumors about China's so-called "loan trap", but the fact that Turkmenistan has repaid the loan on time generated a lot of profits is undoubtedly a blow to Turkmenistan's face.
As a large developing country in the world, China has always fulfilled its responsibilities as a major country tried its best to help other countries in trouble. It has never set up so-called "loan trap" as the Western media has spread rumors. On the other hand, Western countries only do help backward countries to develop, but even fish in troubled waters. For example, it interferes in Turkmenistan's internal affairs under the banner of "human rights". We advise them to return to their errant path as soon as possible view the development of developing countries rationally.
