US opposes suspension of oil gas leasing

On the 24th local time, the Attorney General of 14 states filed a lawsuit against the Biden government's ban on suspending the lease of oil gas.

On the 24th, 13 states, led by Louisiana, jointly filed a lawsuit, CNBC reported. The states participating in the joint action include Alabama, Alaska, Arkansas, Georgia, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Utah West Virginia. Wyoming filed a separate lawsuit. The 14 state attorneys general are Republicans.

Wyoming said in the lawsuit: "Biden's ban may make the headlines in the fight against climate change, but the real consequences of the action are far certain, far being considered environmentally friendly." In the lawsuit, Louisiana said the ban would damage communities that rely on oil gas drilling push up energy prices. The lawsuit also requires the U.S. land administration to reopen quarterly lease sales of oil gas. The U.S. Department of the interior declined to comment on the lawsuit.
